Towards a global community of e-learning excellence...

About

The Centre for Excellence in Teaching & Learning (CETL) in Reusable Learning Objects, in conjunction with Wolfson College Cambridge, welcomes applications for the first cohort of Wolfson e-Learning Fellowships, commencing in April 2009.

The Fellowships, based at Wolfson College Cambridge and facilitated by CETL staff, are for ten weeks to allow a substantial body of work to be achieved. The programme is offered to senior academics, administrators, technical and support staff in Higher Education throughout the world who have a passion for e-learning and the will to implement local change through creation, sharing and evaluation of radical new designs, tools, templates and methodologies. You will be self-motivated and intellectually curious with a clear plan of what you wish to achieve during your residence in Cambridge and the wherewithal to make a real difference at your home institution on your return.

The Wolfson e-Learning Fellowship programme is not a course. It is an intensive, ten-week Fellowship and although there will be a number of seminars both to help get you started and keep you updated, there will also be plenty of free time for you to pursue the goals that will have been agreed with CETL staff. A member of CETL staff who has the expertise that best suits your needs will be assigned to you and will act as key contact throughout your stay, so if you require any assistance or advice help will never be far away.

Proposals are encouraged under three broad themes; these are the areas that the Centre of Excellence knows it can make a very valuable contribution to and will endeavour to facilitate participants to achieve their objectives and deliverables. However, proposals are not limited to these themes and innovative proposals that fall outside of these themes, although under the broad remit of e-learning, will also be considered. The current themes are:

The cost of the programme includes modern en-suite accommodation at Wolfson College; breakfast, lunch and dinner during the week including two Formal Halls per week; lunch/brunch at weekends; receptions; a Black Tie Guest Night; wireless internet access (bring your own laptop); orientation and expert seminars; visits to CETL partners; information pack with maps, facts and resources and much more - see the sample programme for more details.

Visiting Fellow status at Wolfson College conveys many benefits; the opportunity to dine at the College twice a week at Formal Hall; to attend regular musical events and research colloquia; to present your project at a Fellows' seminar; to participate in numerous sporting and recreational activities - in other words, to play a full part in College life. College membership also conveys many privileges in the wider University of Cambridge; a Reader's ticket to the University Library housing over 7 million volumes; notification of and free attendance at the many and varied public lectures given every term by distinguished speakers; entry to the University's museums and collections including the famous Fitzwilliam Museum and the University Botanic Garden. Accompanying spouses or partners are welcome for the whole or any part of the ten-week period and may stay free of charge (subject to availability of suitable accommodation). CETL staff are committed to making your stay both highly productive and enjoyable. The overall aim is to seed and support a global community of e-learning excellence whilst providing a stimulating, fulfilling and life-transforming experience.
